Being Best Man

Recently my sister wedded and I was the best man. I've been best man before but most of those weddings were thrown together and thuse no formal speech applied. This however was not true with Amandas' wedding, she was determined for it to be perfect. Nonetheless writing the speech was a hard thing. I couldn't do it. Not without some Fireproof.

The speech is below...

A happy marriage is a matter of give and take; the husband gives and the wife takes. I’m pretty sure I don’t have to tell these two how that goes. I’ve seen it in action! Jimmy, I trust you’ll make sure Daisy knows the pecking order so that man gets first dibs on you. Amanda, remember it’s perfectly okay for Jimmy to be right once in awhile.

In all seriousness. Jimmy, Amanda… I’m not one for great advice but I’ll share something with you two that I think leads to an enduring relationship. God intended for marriage to be forever and that does mean for better or for worse so Jimmy even when you think she doesn’t deserve your love or your respect, keep loving her, keep respecting her. Amanda, even when you think Jimmy doesn’t deserve your love and respect, keep loving him and keep respecting him. Next, be quick to listen to one another, slow to speak and slow to become angry with one another. Lastly, there are seven ingredients to a good marriage, Love, obviously you love one another very much or we wouldn’t be here. Respect, Respect one another and support each others choices in life. Friendship, so you’re married now but that is no reason not to continue being best friends. Trust, like love we would not be here if you did not trust one another, keep at it. Giving, be a selfless partner, keep interest in each others hobbies, offer to go with one another to things even if it’s not on your own high list of things to do. Lastly is acceptance, accept one another, don’t expect perfection from one another. Recognize that you both have faults that you can live with and never try to change one another.

With that said, I wish you both all the best. I love you Amanda and Jimmy.

I hope you enjoyed it. They certainly did.
